Playing With Other Kids

Image
Julian started going to a tiny, home-based daycare near our house. For now, he goes just a few hours a week, but he enjoys himself tremendously. This picture was taken at the recent Summer Performance and Picnic.

On The Farm Again

Image
Each Saturday, when told we are going to the Farm, Julian replies with a big smile: "MOOOOOOO". Then he starts gathering everybody's shoes, his diaper bag, and runs to the door screaming "yau" (which means - out). This year, climbing on all available farm equipment was added to his "to do" list.

ZOO!!!

Image
During his first trip to the Zoo Julian was most excited to meet Bobo. Jules got a book about a chimp named Bobo from Babcia Hania, and was most eager to meet the main character in person. He was a tad confused about the number of Bobos that was presented to him in the zoo... His favorite animal was made out of metal, didn't move much, and was easy to touch - unlike most others. And the little train ride around the zoo with Mom and Dad was more fun than anything else.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Our Rodeo Kid has pretty much mastered every trick possible on his rocking horse, and progressed to other modes of transportation. (one second later) Look, Ma, no hands!!! I don't know about this - where are my wind shield wipers??? Now THAT'S more like it!!! And what have we got here? Oh, that's why I'm not getting anywhere...

Appendix Out = Grandmas In

Image
Hanging out with Nona at the Waterfront... ...or on the playground while Mom naps after her surgery. Just a few days after our return from Poland Mom ended up in the emergency room, and had her appendix expeditiously removed. We are forever grateful to Tony and Julie for picking up their phone at 5:00 am and for taking care of Julian that day. Many thanks to Suzanne (and Benji!) who took care of Julian the following day, when Mom and Dad were in the hospital. Our warmest thanks go to Babcia Hania and Nona who flew in from LA to keep Mom in bed, and away from all stairs, and all things that needed to be lifted - like Baby J. They also cooked up a storm and left a lot of meals for us in the freezer. Julian, oblivious to all the drama around him, had a blast playing with all the "new" people for two weeks. J man feeding Babcia Hania... ...and showing her how to use the measuring tape.

Somwhere, Beyond the Sea

Meeting Muki was the most exciting part of the Poland trip. Much to everybody's amazement, Muki was really good with Julian, and Julian was really good with Muki We made it to Poland, at last! I won't bore you with the details of logistics of the transatalntic travel with a toddler, but I will say this: anybody can do ANYTHING for 10 hours or so. There. Julian met an unbelivably large group of people and a slightly smaller group of cats. Grandparents were cool enough, the cats were cooler. He loved Mom's parents' house, especially the garden. Polish playgrounds went over very well, indeed. I wonder whether he will have any memory of this trip at all... OK, I can deal with her, she likes rattling BALLS!!! Hangin' out with Dziadek Wojtek Prababcia (Great-Grandma) Danusia was a trip - she bounced Julian on her lap and sang some crazy Polish song about horseback riding Julian and Ksawery fought a bit at the begining, but then fed each other cheerios from a common bo...

Oh, the Logs!

Image
Can anybody else play on this log as well as I can? I just don't think so... Mine... All mine... Going home after an exciting adventure There is a ravine in a park by our house. Julian loves exploring the "underworld" - kicking the leaves, climbing the logs, picking up the sticks and rocks. Who needs battery operated toys? Not BabyJ...
